Favorite Movie Friday

Away We Go

Hello there, second FMF post!!

Today Im going to be talking about another Mama movie, Away We Go!

Synopsis: Burt (John Krasinksi) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) both in their 30's with their first child on the way, take a trip to find a home for their new family.  By traveling to the homes of friends and families around the US they begin to discover what "home" is really all about.

10 reasons I love this movie!

1. The cast alone is amazing!! John Krasinksi, Maya Rudolph (love), Catherine O'Hara, Jeff Daniels, Maggie Gyllenhaal (love), Allison Janney (love) and Jim Gaffigan- to name a few.

2. Burt and Verona's relationship is awesome; they love, support and make each other laugh. What more could a girl ask for?

3. TAYLOR... TAYLOR... TAYLOR... TAYLOR...! Allison Janney is hilarious in this movie and the way she describes her boobs after pregnancy is frighteningly not too far from the truth.

4. The scene with Verona and her sister (her only living family) is so endearing and sincere.  What can I say... I'm a sap for sisterly love in movies.

5. Maggie Gyllenhaal is quite the scene stealer in this movie, but I could not stop laughing at the dinner scene!  And I just have to say Im a bad Mama because I use a stroller and "PUSH" my baby away from me!!!

6. The couple's trip to meet their old friends was amazing and heart wrenching.  I was in tears, I can't go too much into it without feeling sad all over again.  I just have to say that I happen to love their home, their children and the love they have for each other.

7.  Burt really reminds me of Dada! It could be the beard, the height, the silly things he says or perhaps when he tries to make me feel better and it comes out completely wrong!! lol

8.  There were no cookie cutter families in this movie and I love that.  We are shown a cooky nuclear family, a family of just sisters, a bohemian family, an adopted family, and a newly single parent family. Not all families are the same but that doesn't mean they have any less love.

9.  That old house at the end looks amazing!

10. When I first watched this movie I was about 7 months pregnant and I really connected with the characters.  I too wondered if we Dada and I were "screw ups" because we were 24/25ish, pregnant with our first baby and didn't have the basic stuff figured out.  Luckily seeing this movie helped me to remember that its the family not the place that help you make a home.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie, I strongly advise if you haven't seen it, go out and find it immediately! I've had an unfinished draft of this post waiting forever, every friday I would look it over and then chicken out and not post. This was mostly because I really love this movie and wanted to be able to do it justice, today I just said "go for it" and here you have it.  Hope you enjoyed.

We Love You Austin!

We had an amazing time in ATX with our good friends!! Here are
few photos of our little trip.

This is me in the car very excited about our trip! YAY!!

Many small shops to visit and "aaawww" in, except a lot of
the shops ask you NOT to take photos. BOO, oh well
I did get manage to capture some shots from the few
places that were nice enough to allow it.
 Tesoros was actually my favorite.

Anybody ever seen the movie Deathproof?? Well Dada and
I happen to LOVE Deathproof (and Quentin Tarantino) so
of course we had to have margaritas at the same margarita
joint that was in the film!

This place is called Uncommon Objects  , we were laughing and
creeped out the whole time we were in there.

Gotta love a huge monkey in a hat.

Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds, the tiniest and fullest
costume shop in Texas (my opinion)!!

We visited quite a few shops, all very interesting.
Just walking SoCo turned out to be one of the best parts of our trip.

Quick bite of pizza for dinner at Home Slice, the menu
reminded me of my Little and Dada.

Of course we had to get fancied up to head out to 6th Street!!
Perhaps it was a good thing that we left our camera in the room
while we had our unsupervised adult fun birthday celebratin' night!

The next day was very cloudy, as you can see, but it only rained for about 45 minutes.
After it cleared up and the sun was out again we headed down to Barton Springs
Its actually a man-made spring and is ICE COLD, but we were still brave enough
to take a dip.  We ate burgers and watched other people scream their way into the water,
was a pretty good way to end our trip.

We did manage to find a few goodies that we thought Little would love! A plane that
was completely glued to his hand for a couple of days, he insisted on sleeping with it
and asked for it in the morning. We knew he would love it, lately he's been asking for
airplanes every time were outside. Of course we had to get him something animal
related, so we decided he might be in total AWE with these bad boys. So far we've watched
 a zebra grow.

This was the day after our trip, always excited to see these 2 happy faces.
Little is actually saying "cheese".

A few things we didn't capture by photo, but will always be in our memories:

Waiting for our snow cones outside and being attacked by "friendly" sugar addicted bees.

Sitting on the curb, on 6th st, eating an amazing slice of pizza at 3am.

Riding in the back of a Bike Cab with Dada talking bout Johnny Cash.

Toy Joy, wall to wall toys and kid gadgets. Little would have been in Heaven!!

All the street art was amazing! The second day we were there, we went to a strip full of
street art but since it started raining we couldn't take any pictures without damaging
our phones or cameras. But it was there and it was lovely.

Dancing and drinking the night away with good friends.

Talking to Little on the phone on our way to Grammas to pick him up, he sounded so excited.

I admit that being away from Little was extremely hard for me, but I knew Gramma would
do her best to keep his mind off of our being gone.  I did talk about him a lot but Dada
kept reassuring me that he would be fine and it would be good for us to get away.  As it
turns out Dada was right, when we returned home we had the happiest little reunion!!

One day we will have to go back with our Little so he can see the sights and sounds from a very
unique little city.  Keep Austin Weird!

Weekend Goodies

Big hello everybody, especially you dear Friday!!

Ive got a lot on my mind as of late, so I'm putting it all out on the table..along with links:

Dada and I just signed up for The Color Run!! The best way I can explain it is; we'll run, walk, skip & hop 3 miles on a course and will be covered by awesome color dust along the way! Im pretty sure if you go to the website they will explain it much better though, its also called "The Happiest 5k on the Planet".  Its in November and Im not in the greatest shape so Dada and I will start running a couple days a week to get ourselves ready!!

So I went and saw a little indie film called MAGIC MIKE!!! And in my best Matt McConaughey voice "alright alright alright"!! Ok back to what I originally wanted to say: I saw a preview for a movie that looked very entertaining! Pitch Perfect, the premise is 2 college a cappella groups go head to head in competition. It sounds like it would be campy but the preview looked pretty good, Im kinda excited!

Im loving Rebel Wilson right now!! I loved her in Bridesmaids, she looks absolutely hilarious in Pitch Perfect (the other reason I want to see it) and shes going to be in another movie called Bachlorette I think I will check out. Yeah thats right, Im a chic flick lova! But again, this woman is proving to be amazing!!

My birthday is coming up!! Im going to be 27 on August 25th, Im really excited because Dada and I are planning a little get away to Austin to celebrate. It will only be one night away and Little will stay with Gramma, I don't think I could make it longer than that.  Its been quite awhile since Dada and I have been away, by ourselves, together.  Lately Ive been reading more and more about Austin so that we can get as much fun packed in those 2 days as possible, this sure helped.  Something else to think about when planning a trip... what will i wear?

When Dada took Little to the Dr he had his blood taken, which he did like a champ according to Dada. So the Dr called me today to let me know that according to the blood work Little will need to take a multivitamin with iron from now on.  Ok first of all, Im very happy and thankful that it wasn't anything too bad. Second of all, it is very scary when the Doctor himself calls and says, "Im calling about Jude's bloodwork...". As soon as he said that phrase, my face felt cold as if all the blood drained from it!  Thankfully, like i said, it wasn't anything bad.

We'll be at Tia Linda's tonight hanging out, eating pizza and watching scary movies.  This weekend will probably be very laid back, which is always nice. I hope everybody has a great weekend out there!!

p.s. I just love kissing that little belly in the picture!

Weekend Goodies

the babies on the bus go waa waa waa..

I assure you he isn't crying, sad or sleepy. He really just gets into the wheels on the bus!! It is one of his favorite songs to sing with Mama & Dada, he actually makes me take off my glasses so I can rub my eyes like the baby too! Oh toddlers...

I have several links, pictures and goodies to share with you:

Oh My Gosh, this  is the most amazing wall art for a baby shower ever!! Could I somehow replicate this for the shower Im throwing???? I think Im going to give it a GO! fingers crossed

I got pregnant at the age of 24 and gave birth to Little a month shy of 25.  I also happened to work part time when I was pregnant in customer service.  Working in customer service while your so obviously pregnant is pretty much an ice breaker for lots of colorful people.  Sometimes its nice and sometimes its akward and you just want to step on somebodies toes with all your pregnancy weight! This post from an awesome blog called Early Mama reminded me of those awkward moments!! Yes I know I wasn't teen mom young but I did hear everything from that list at least once during my pregnancy!!

This made me laugh out loud, several times! It actually makes me feel better that I am not the only mama that goes through this at Target! Why is it so true??

I can't understand a word of this post but that photo is darling! I definitely have to incorporate Littles animal friends for his birthday party.

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!  True Blood season 5 premiere! This mamas excited!

I love this look!! But could I really pull it off? Keiko Lynn can rock anything!! I think Im now in search of the perfect head scarf!

Last night we were at Tia Lindas house,  while I was making the hundredth paper flower, out of nowhere Little started barking and crawling around like a puppy.  I do realize I'm getting excited about my child acting like an animal but it was too cute!! This is the part of toddlerhood that Im the most excited about the spontaneous imagination part.  Yes it takes imagination for kids to pretend to be dogs, doctors, cowboys, princesses or whatever they run around the living room pretending to be.

Yesterday when I picked him up from daycare he said "school"!! I asked him if he had fun at school and he pointed to the school nodded and said "school"!! On our way to full conversations people!

Cheers to Friday friends!!
