Dear Jude

Yesterday we celebrated the Fourth of July together.  Although we had a good
one last year, yesterday's was extra special.  We went to Gramma & Papaw's house
and lounged all day while they fried up the fish Papaw and Dada caught on their trip.  In the evening, after dinner, we all went outside to pop a few fireworks.  Nothing too big or extravagant just a little something for you and Squish to OOH and AAH at.  You held your first sparkler.  Although you were skittish at first, you did manage to wave it around and hold it up high just like any little boy would.  Seeing you excited made me very happy and reminded me of how lucky I am that I get to experience these special moments with you.  You really are getting to be a big boy and that makes me excited.

Fishies!!

Last Sunday we had a little get together at Gramma & Papaws house for some Fathers Day fajitas.   Gramma bought the babies a pool to keep them cool, made some delicious fajita tacos and then we got Papaw a super yummy ice cream cake.  Unfortunately Dada couldn't make it due to a schedule change at work but we did give him his gift as soon as he woke up and took him to a big Fathers Day breakfast that morning.  Later this month Dada will go on a deep sea fishing trip with Papaw, so I took care of all the fees and packed his backpack full of his favorite goodies for the trip as a gift.

Now take a look at those photos!! Could I have more?? Yes I do, I held back!!  We have a couple of fishy babies, they absolutely love the water and had a blast splashing around.

The baby shower I hosted Saturday went off great and Im sorting through all the pictures to share here later. Now on to planning Little's birthday party!!  eeeesh... Im one busy Mama!  Happy first day of summer!

P.S. A good way to enjoy this summer is to go out, buy a pool and do some fishy watching yourself!

Comicpalooza Sunday!

This past Sunday Little and I attended his 2nd Comicpalooza!!
I dressed him in his cutest super hero tee, his adorable red chucks
and off we went.

There were lots of costumed people strolling around and cool booths
to visit!  Little was a bit shy with Darth Vader and the Storm Trooper
but loved Captain America!

Here is Papaw, Cousin Rene and Little with Dark Anakin.

Dark Phoenix has been one of my favorite characters
since I was a little, this ladies costume was awesome!

I like when Little gets really excited.

Steam Punk has a huge following and I definitely
see why, these guys looked great!

These 2 ladies were my favorite of the whole day,
look how much detail went into Mrs. Twoface!!
Wowza! They make me want to dress up next year!

This was the first time I had ever really let Little out
of his stroller, usually Im pretty paranoid in huge
crowds.  But his cousin Rene (a big boy) was
walking around and of course Little wanted to be a
big boy too.  He already looks up to cousin Rene!

Ghostbusters

Poison Ivy

Squish and Bailey held hands while
walking until Squish decided enough was enough.

There were some weird pairs like Deadpool and Kevin Smith

Well dressed Renaissance Man

A family of Batman villains, Harley Quinn
(another favorite) and that Scarecrow is crazy cool!

Gramma bought Little a small toy hulk to hold on to while
strolling around and I got Little his first Hulk comic book.

The Murderous Clown? Yes its a little weird BUT I
loved the way The Hulk was drawn in this series.

I also managed to score this series 1 Marvel Avengers Hulk action figure!
They are hard to find, sold out and on back order everywhere.
I thought about keeping it in the package for him, his first
collectors item, but we might just give it to him for his birthday.

This is the tiny Hulk Gramma bought Little.

He loves it and spent all of Memorial Day playing with him.

One last thing: I am a TRUEBIE, which means that I am a huge fan of the
amazing True Blood, an HBO series.  Well this brings me to my point; Kristin Bauer van Straten who plays Pam de Beaufort on True Blood was at Comicpalooza! And yes I got to meet her!! She is one of my favorite characters on the show and was super nice in person, very tiny.

It was a great Comicpalooza Sunday!  I hope next year Dada can join us and then maybe we can dress up as a family!  So many choices and so  many ideas for a little family of 3!

Weekend Recap.

We had a huge weekend over here!!  Here are a few snippets just to give you an idea of the craziness, later Ill have full stories with mega amounts of photos!

I think I forgot to mention that since Little is now 22mths, he has moved up an age group in Gymboree! Level 5!! It is a little later in the morning (10am instead of 8:45) so we are either going to have a Big Lunch or Big Breakfast from now on.  In this case we had an awesome lunch and then headed to the zoo for a day out with Little.  It was oh so hot but we loaded up on sunscreen, we added a  cap to our cutie and off we went.   I will have a post with tons of photos later this week!!

On Sunday Little and Mama went to Comicpalooza!! Yes this Mama is a nerdy girl when it comes to comics (thanks to a certain Papaw) and everything comic related! Dada is a big fan of the science/science fiction genre, so we might as well start Little early with this love!  It was very exciting for this kid, he jumped out of the stroller a number of times cause he just had to walk around.  Why wouldn't he?? There were people in costumes, comic/artists booths, toys... ahem Action Figures, everything a nerdy fangirl could love!!  He didn't really like being too close to the costumes though, as you can see.  After our morning of awesomeness we headed back to Grammas where Little took a nap and the 3 little cousins (Squish, Noah and Rene) played with a water toy in the backyard.  Papaw and Gramma decided this would be the perfect time to have a small bbq!!  The photo above is Squish and Little sitting in their favorite chairs drying off in the backyard while Papaw is grilling.  I also want to note that Tia Linda made the most amazing dip EVER, I will definitely have to share that recipe here one day!!! She is a natural when it comes to foods, which is probably why she's the head chef and manager of a very popular cupcake place!!

On Memorial Day we decided we'd stay home and relax.  Little and I accompanied Tia Linda for lunch at 5 guys, which was SO DELICIOUS.  Then we all took a quick trip to Toys R Us and a couple of stores for some impromptu shopping for our littles.  But the rest of the day we were home, lounging and  I did some light cleaning. Little of course did his part by only wearing a diaper so Mama didn't have to wash any more than she had to.  It was a pretty fantastic weekend for us.

Happy Memorial Day everyone!  I just wanted to take a moment to thank everybody and anybody who served in the military.   I have a very close cousin named Jessica Lopez who served and Dada has many close family members that have served; Dada's Mom, Dad, Uncle and both Grandfathers. So to all of them and everybody in the armed forces, again I say thank you and we deeply appreciate any and all sacrifices that have been made on your part.
