Mama's Birthday

This past weekend we celebrated Mama's 27th birthday!!
Here is a little weekend recap:

Friday

Friday, Little had a Back to School Party at Daycare and as a treat all the kiddies got to take home a cupcake.  When I picked him up he insisted that he hold the cupcake for the drive and since it was the weekend I decided to be a fun Mama for a change and let him.  Well as soon as we got home of course the cupcake was half eaten and the other half was all over the carseat!  Gramita decided to have everybody over for hotdogs as a back to school treat, Little had the biggest tantrum that Dada and I had ever encountered. This was probably due to all my talk in the previous post about how he is starting to act like a big boy and understand me... big mistake Mama!!

Saturday

Saturday, I woke up on my birthday to an awesomely wrapped present from Dada and baby!  I think Dada did the most amazing job creating this one of a kind wrapping paper.  For my birthday he gave me a book filled with 642 things to draw and a mini shopping spree at Urban Outfitters for an upcoming trip we are taking in October.  The best presents ever!! Afterward we were off to have a big breakfast and continue our special day together.  I didn't get any pictures of us at breakfast because Little wasn't too happy that our breakfast was later than usual, my concentration was focused on keeping that kid happy and eating.

After our big birthday breakfast we decided to go to the zoo instead of Gymboree as a treat for all of us.
The weather was perfect, the sun was out but there was a steady breeze cooling us off.  Little had a great time running around watching at all the animals, making animal noises and he basically wore himself out.  Later we had a huge family dinner at Carrabbas, it felt great to have my family come together for a special dinner to celebrate my birthday!   Tia Linda bought me a special dessert and had the waiters sing to me, unfortunately we didn't get any pictures of our dinner.  The restaurant was pretty crowded and the babies (Squish, Little and cousin Noah) were very hungry and we were all trying to help them enjoy the dinner.  At home I seriously fell into a food coma! Yes I completely knocked out and I could not wake up!

Sunday

When I finally did emerge from my food coma, Little and I went to Tia Lindas for a homemade breakfast.  Tia had cousin Rene sleepover for movies and smores on Saturday, so she made a big breakfast for everyone Sunday.  We then went to Target (as you can see from the red cart above) to pick out some cute clothes for Squish's days at her babysitter's house.  We finished off the weekend hanging out with Gramma and eating Papaws shish kabobs.  I had an amazing weekend, a great birthday and the best family ever!

A Cute Kid

Sorry I was MIA yesterday, Tia Lorri and I took Little out for his 2 year old photos.  We set out super early to one of my favorite places, Herman Park right by the zoo, and let him wander around.  We marveled at the fountain, watched the ducks and took a stroll.

When we got there it was nice out, there was a cool breeze and the sun was barely peeking through the clouds.  That quickly changed, so Tia Lorri took as many photos as she could before the wind died down and the sun really started staring at us!  I think she did an amazing job with this kid, because well.. as you can see it is hard catching him sometimes.  Im still going through them and I have to lighten a few up (sneaky sun) but I just had to share a couple of them here.  Please excuse my excessive gushing in the next couple of lines--- OMG Isn't he soooo adorable?! I can't believe how big this little guy is, why is he so cute?? That outfit fits him perfectly and looks awesome!!--- Ok done, once I pick a few that Im sending out to family I will definitely post them here.

Here is a funny story that I almost forgot to share- Every morning when I drop off Little at daycare there is one little girl (a bit older) in the room that says hello to him and touches his arm as he walks by.  Well last Friday he sits right in front of her and next to another little girl his age.  As the older girl starts to say hello and reaches to touch his arm, the younger girl next to him says "NO! mine!" and puts her hand there instead.  Little didn't seem to notice either girl, he was concentrating on his stuffed weenie dog he brought for Pajama Day.  To this story Dada says "Its starting already", I happen to think its his lack of a full head of hair that makes little girls think he is still a baby and thats why they gush!!

Year 2 Photos

So Dada and I have decided that we are going to have my lil sis, Tia Lorri, take Little's 2 year photos!  She has a  great eye for capturing special moments and can usually get some great shots of the ever moving Little.  Another plus about this is that Little will act totally natural because he knows Tia Lorri and won't get weirded out when she starts shooting away, as he would if it were a stranger.  So as you can see Im on the hunt for a great outfit for my Little!! Were doing it early for great light and hopefully its not mind numbingly hot!!
When I first found out i was pregnant with a baby boy, i thought to myself "I have no idea how to dress a boy".  But I find that its the most fun EVER!! I love shopping for Little way more than I do for myself.  Can you see Little in any of the outfits above??
Bad news Dada, I can see him in ALL of them!!!

Aye Yi Yi!!

This weekend was super rainy and very lazy.  Except for  Gymboree and running some birthday errands Saturday, Little and I just lounged about with Tia Lorri.  We were house/tia sitting for Gramma and Papaw while they were on their small road trip to New Orleans.  I did get some DIY decorations done while Little was napping on Sunday.  A couple of things...

Little says "Aye yi yi"!! HILARIOUS!!

Little no longer feels the need to follow me into the bathroom!! This is awesome news, usually I have a little boy trailing after me or banging on the door as soon as I head to the restroom.  But now I simply tell him where Im going and he nods. Thats if he is not in a bad mood already, then there is no escaping him!

Little is coming up on the "mine" phase and I think its gonna get ugly! We try not to use the word so we don't encourage it, but he does go to daycare where Im sure he hears it plenty.

Little and I pray at night, its very sweet.  We say, "I love The Father, The Son and The Holy Spirit.. Amen" while doing the sign of the cross. One day he'll know what it means, for now its something special we do together.

I signed Little up for the Toys R Us birthday club and they sent Little a birthday card already.  The card came with a couple of coupons Little can use for his birthday. Isn't that awesome?? I had no idea they did something like that, I hear when you go in to use the coupons they wish the birthday kid a Happy Birthday over the intercom.  Ill report back here of course!

Which reminds me- Littles birthday is coming up fast...  A WEEK!! Its crazy but somehow I don't think Ill be scrambling around like last year.  Maybe because its at Grammas house or maybe that Ive made it low key, Idk but m not freaking out yet.  Going home to work on party bags, Im actually excited!!

Little Weekend

I have been MIA for a couple of days and Im terribly sorry!!
There is just so much going on in my head right now that I didn't get a chance to post on Friday!

So let me fill you in:
Little is back to his awesome self again! His infections seemed to have gone away and we are very happy about that.  Well "we" as in me because Dada seemed to have caught the throat infection.

We celebrated Tia Linda's birthday Friday with spaghetti and karaoke at Gramma's house!
I sing horribly but I LOVE karaoke!! I get so into it you have to pry the microphone from my fingers.

On Saturday, because Dada was feeling ill, Gramma came to Gymboree with Little and I.  We had our awesome breakfast and then had a very exhausting fun time at Gymboree! Although, Little did laugh out loud at a little girl who fell!! It was the first time he's ever laughed at someone that wasn't intentionally trying to make him laugh.  I felt really bad but I guess I have to chalk it up to the fact that Dada and I are always pretending to fall and bang ourselves up to get him to giggle...so maybe we'll have to rely on our other giggle inducers from now on.  Yes I did put his hand down, he actually pointed and laughed *face palm*, and calmly told him "we don't do that".  Oh this kid!!  Saturday night I spent some time with friends and Tia Linda to celebrate her birthday grown up style.  Little stayed with Gramma and Papaw, so that Dada could get some more rest.

Sunday, Tia Faith threw a skating party for her son Nicky who turned 14.  Little & Squish couldn't skate, skates didn't go that small in size, and spent the entire time running around the rink with Gramma, Papaw and our good friend Mike.  I haven't gone skating since I was around 14, it brought back fun memories until I fell flat on my bottom and it brought me back to my age!  I can't wait till I can teach Little how to skate because I forgot how much I LOVE IT!!

Little update:
If ever Little does not have pants or shorts on he takes off his diaper holds it up and says "this".  I laugh every time (I can't help it) but we are now in the process of getting him to keep it on and take him to the potty when he takes it off.

He says "hello" when he wants to talk on the phone, we usually let him call Gramma.

When Little is wearing shorts/pants he insists on having his hands in his pockets.  Its the most adorable thing EVER!!

He helps me wash clothes: throwing clothes I give him from the washer into the dryer... mostly his clothes and socks.
He also likes to help fold clothes: rolling the clothes into a little ball.

New words: dance, toes, school and there are more that I can't think of at the moment!!

2 weeks til the big party!!
Decorations and goodie bags are officially crossed off my list! Well...except for the few DIY's Im working on as part of the party decor.  Im a procrastinating Mama but I'm getting to it, I PROMISE!!

Weekend Smiles

We are looking at a pretty great weekend ahead:
Today Dada went on his deep sea fishing trip that Little and I "gave" him for Fathers day and he'll be gone all day.  So Little and I will be hanging out with Squish and Tia Linda.  Saturday night Dada and I will be heading to a good friends birthday celebration, we're gonna have a little grown up time together!  And Sunday Im hoping to take Little to see the movie Brave.  Gramma took Squish last Saturday to see it as sort of a girls day and they loved it.  Im definitely looking forward to our full weekend ahead and Im going to leave a few links to enjoy.

Thinking this would make the perfect gift for Little's birthday.  We like to give him something extra special!

If you haven't heard about the Disney/Pixar movie Brave, please go watch the trailer now! (Im sure you've heard of it though!)

I am a huge fan of Baby Gap and Im loving this new collection.  At first I thought it would be super hard to dress a boy but I LOVE IT!

This blog has finally convinced me to move forward with my red jeans idea.  The idea: take my old pair of light gray jeans and dye them red! It sounds pretty easy and I can hit 2 birds with one stone; try the DIY and have red jeans! (I hate that saying!)

Im finally doing it! Im going to open an Etsy store!  Im going to start small with selling invitations Ive designed (and all things invitation related) then move on to bigger things.  Its very scary and thrilling at the same time!! Ill have a full scoop in a later post.

Looking forward to big fun this weekend with more smiles like the one above!

Comicpalooza Sunday!

This past Sunday Little and I attended his 2nd Comicpalooza!!
I dressed him in his cutest super hero tee, his adorable red chucks
and off we went.

There were lots of costumed people strolling around and cool booths
to visit!  Little was a bit shy with Darth Vader and the Storm Trooper
but loved Captain America!

Here is Papaw, Cousin Rene and Little with Dark Anakin.

Dark Phoenix has been one of my favorite characters
since I was a little, this ladies costume was awesome!

I like when Little gets really excited.

Steam Punk has a huge following and I definitely
see why, these guys looked great!

These 2 ladies were my favorite of the whole day,
look how much detail went into Mrs. Twoface!!
Wowza! They make me want to dress up next year!

This was the first time I had ever really let Little out
of his stroller, usually Im pretty paranoid in huge
crowds.  But his cousin Rene (a big boy) was
walking around and of course Little wanted to be a
big boy too.  He already looks up to cousin Rene!

Ghostbusters

Poison Ivy

Squish and Bailey held hands while
walking until Squish decided enough was enough.

There were some weird pairs like Deadpool and Kevin Smith

Well dressed Renaissance Man

A family of Batman villains, Harley Quinn
(another favorite) and that Scarecrow is crazy cool!

Gramma bought Little a small toy hulk to hold on to while
strolling around and I got Little his first Hulk comic book.

The Murderous Clown? Yes its a little weird BUT I
loved the way The Hulk was drawn in this series.

I also managed to score this series 1 Marvel Avengers Hulk action figure!
They are hard to find, sold out and on back order everywhere.
I thought about keeping it in the package for him, his first
collectors item, but we might just give it to him for his birthday.

This is the tiny Hulk Gramma bought Little.

He loves it and spent all of Memorial Day playing with him.

One last thing: I am a TRUEBIE, which means that I am a huge fan of the
amazing True Blood, an HBO series.  Well this brings me to my point; Kristin Bauer van Straten who plays Pam de Beaufort on True Blood was at Comicpalooza! And yes I got to meet her!! She is one of my favorite characters on the show and was super nice in person, very tiny.

It was a great Comicpalooza Sunday!  I hope next year Dada can join us and then maybe we can dress up as a family!  So many choices and so  many ideas for a little family of 3!
