Favorite Movie Friday

Away We Go

Hello there, second FMF post!!

Today Im going to be talking about another Mama movie, Away We Go!

Synopsis: Burt (John Krasinksi) and Verona (Maya Rudolph) both in their 30's with their first child on the way, take a trip to find a home for their new family.  By traveling to the homes of friends and families around the US they begin to discover what "home" is really all about.

10 reasons I love this movie!

1. The cast alone is amazing!! John Krasinksi, Maya Rudolph (love), Catherine O'Hara, Jeff Daniels, Maggie Gyllenhaal (love), Allison Janney (love) and Jim Gaffigan- to name a few.

2. Burt and Verona's relationship is awesome; they love, support and make each other laugh. What more could a girl ask for?

3. TAYLOR... TAYLOR... TAYLOR... TAYLOR...! Allison Janney is hilarious in this movie and the way she describes her boobs after pregnancy is frighteningly not too far from the truth.

4. The scene with Verona and her sister (her only living family) is so endearing and sincere.  What can I say... I'm a sap for sisterly love in movies.

5. Maggie Gyllenhaal is quite the scene stealer in this movie, but I could not stop laughing at the dinner scene!  And I just have to say Im a bad Mama because I use a stroller and "PUSH" my baby away from me!!!

6. The couple's trip to meet their old friends was amazing and heart wrenching.  I was in tears, I can't go too much into it without feeling sad all over again.  I just have to say that I happen to love their home, their children and the love they have for each other.

7.  Burt really reminds me of Dada! It could be the beard, the height, the silly things he says or perhaps when he tries to make me feel better and it comes out completely wrong!! lol

8.  There were no cookie cutter families in this movie and I love that.  We are shown a cooky nuclear family, a family of just sisters, a bohemian family, an adopted family, and a newly single parent family. Not all families are the same but that doesn't mean they have any less love.

9.  That old house at the end looks amazing!

10. When I first watched this movie I was about 7 months pregnant and I really connected with the characters.  I too wondered if we Dada and I were "screw ups" because we were 24/25ish, pregnant with our first baby and didn't have the basic stuff figured out.  Luckily seeing this movie helped me to remember that its the family not the place that help you make a home.

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this movie, I strongly advise if you haven't seen it, go out and find it immediately! I've had an unfinished draft of this post waiting forever, every friday I would look it over and then chicken out and not post. This was mostly because I really love this movie and wanted to be able to do it justice, today I just said "go for it" and here you have it.  Hope you enjoyed.

Buddies

The photos above are of Little and some of his buddies.  Lately all of his stuffed animals and "doll like" toys (I said "doll LIKE" toys, Dada) seem to be his good buddies.  I hope everyone has a great weekend and can spend some time with friends.  Just don't end the get together by wrestling with your buddies like Little does with his.  Have a fantastically great happy weekend!!

Favorite Movie Friday

I decided to do something a little bit different today *gasp*, I think I want to start including some more Mama stuff around here!!  Introducing my first Favorite Movie Friday (FMF) post, not every Friday but here and there Ill share with you some favorite movies of Mama, Dada and maybe baby.  I am a self proclaimed movie buff, although it has dwindled a bit since the Little was born. But nevertheless Ive decided our first movie for FMF would be "In Her Shoes", this of course is a Mama movie.

If you're a woman and have a sister and haven't seen this movie, please go rent/buy/watch it immediately.

Synopsis:  Straight laced Rose (Toni Collette) and younger party girl sister Maggie (Cameron Diaz) have a huge fight and go there separate ways.  Maggie goes to live with a long lost grandmother (Shirley MacLaine), neither sister knew about, who reveals a dark family secret that not only brings everybody together but helps them in their lost ways.

10 reasons I love this movie:

1. I love Toni Collette, she makes the best happy faces and her sad faces make me sad too.
2. Rose's shoe closet! Looks amazing and I want it!!
3. Anybody else have a younger sister who is beautiful, I feel your pain Rose. By the way I have 2!!
4. The movie shows the sister bond at its best and at its worst.
5. The inside joke about their stepmother is hysterical.  One thing I can always count on from my sisters are laughs!
6. Its a book!! No I haven't read it ( I will though, promise) but I love movies that are made from books.     I love reading the extra details that weren't in the movie and I truly believe in the phrase "the book was better", hopefully thats the case with this movie/book.
7. The small wedding at the end is a dream.
8. Maybe 7.5- Rose's fiancé and best friend are awesome and hilarious!!
9. The poem Maggie reads at the end is one of my favorites.  e.e. cummings "I carry your heart with me"
10. Who doesn't love Shirley Maclaine?? I mean come on!! Another favorite role she played would be Ouiser Boudreaux from Steel Magnolias!!

There you have it, my 10 favorite things about this movie.  Hopefully one day you'll see it on a shelf somewhere and give it a go! I really enjoyed this post and I will have more FMF posts here!!

Have a good weekend folks!!

Weekend Goodies

the babies on the bus go waa waa waa..

I assure you he isn't crying, sad or sleepy. He really just gets into the wheels on the bus!! It is one of his favorite songs to sing with Mama & Dada, he actually makes me take off my glasses so I can rub my eyes like the baby too! Oh toddlers...

I have several links, pictures and goodies to share with you:

Oh My Gosh, this  is the most amazing wall art for a baby shower ever!! Could I somehow replicate this for the shower Im throwing???? I think Im going to give it a GO! fingers crossed

I got pregnant at the age of 24 and gave birth to Little a month shy of 25.  I also happened to work part time when I was pregnant in customer service.  Working in customer service while your so obviously pregnant is pretty much an ice breaker for lots of colorful people.  Sometimes its nice and sometimes its akward and you just want to step on somebodies toes with all your pregnancy weight! This post from an awesome blog called Early Mama reminded me of those awkward moments!! Yes I know I wasn't teen mom young but I did hear everything from that list at least once during my pregnancy!!

This made me laugh out loud, several times! It actually makes me feel better that I am not the only mama that goes through this at Target! Why is it so true??

I can't understand a word of this post but that photo is darling! I definitely have to incorporate Littles animal friends for his birthday party.

SUNDAY SUNDAY SUNDAY!!  True Blood season 5 premiere! This mamas excited!

I love this look!! But could I really pull it off? Keiko Lynn can rock anything!! I think Im now in search of the perfect head scarf!

Last night we were at Tia Lindas house,  while I was making the hundredth paper flower, out of nowhere Little started barking and crawling around like a puppy.  I do realize I'm getting excited about my child acting like an animal but it was too cute!! This is the part of toddlerhood that Im the most excited about the spontaneous imagination part.  Yes it takes imagination for kids to pretend to be dogs, doctors, cowboys, princesses or whatever they run around the living room pretending to be.

Yesterday when I picked him up from daycare he said "school"!! I asked him if he had fun at school and he pointed to the school nodded and said "school"!! On our way to full conversations people!

Cheers to Friday friends!!

Im Loving Right Now

What Im Loving right now is...

That it's FRIDAY!! whoohoo weekend!!

That Little says "mama mama mama mama" when he wants something.  I mean he calls me for everything to show me a cat, to tell me when somebody (usually either Tia) is messing with him and even just to tell me to dance with him!  Im loving it now but I have a feeling it will drive me crazy soon!

Play-doh playing with Little! He's so cute with it and he can make balls all by himself, little misshapen almost squished balls.  Im especially loving our Play-doh date we had with Squish yesterday. Photos to come.

This UH-mazing necklace!! I am totally into brightly colored statement necklaces right now and this has to be the ultimate!!

GIRLS! I love this show, how could anyone not?? I always laugh out loud at least once during every episode, like a huge embarrassing donkey sounding laugh. Plus I just got Tia Linda into the show, I love having show buddies!! Shes my True Blood buddy!

Tomorrow Dada will take me on a date to have a huge Mama-size margarita with some friends and then to see the movie Snow White and the Huntsman!  Im soooo excited about this movie!!! Something about Charlize Theron as an evil queen gives me goosebumps.

Speaking of movies I'm excited about... have you seen The Great Gatsby trailer. It looks amazing I freaking love Baz Luhrmann, he did an amazing job on Moulin Rouge (a favorite) and Romeo & Juliet (another favorite).  ...ok  Im stopping with the trailers now, it could get ugly!

Gramma is doing her Fun Run for the Heights this Saturday! We are so very proud of her, she gave herself a goal and worked hard to reach it.  Also, I should mention that, nobody made her do this Fun Run and nobody asked her to do it. She decided to do it for herself, it can be very hard for some to give themselves a goal then reach it at nobodies request but she did it admirably! Yay Gramma!!

Everyone have an awesome happy weekend!

TGIF!!

These photos are from a couple of weeks ago at Gymboree bubble/parachute time! I just love to watch him play with the bubbles and sit down like a big boy while waiting for the next activity.  Always makes me smile.

TGIF Ladies and Gentleman!!
Here are a couple of things Im looking forward to this weekend:

Friday:
Spending some time with Tia Linda and Squishey tonight, hopefully we'll be having a Chic Fil A dinner!! Im such a bad Mama, but we just love those chicken tenders! Maybe Ill talk Tia into a quick trip to Target, we are after all Target LOVAS!
*Not looking forward to watching the new Footloose for the 5th time, Tia Linda loves it but I prefer the original!

Saturday:
Of course Im looking forward to our Saturday morning Gymboree and big breakfast, it will be especially awesome because Papaw (Littles Grandpa, Mamas Dad) will be joining us!! Mama is in desperate need of a new car and Papaw is going to help us look around, plus he loves a big breakfast! Keep your fingers crossed for us!!  Ive been doing my research and dusting off my haggling skills, I'm still a bit nervous because I can barely negotiate with my own toddler to wear sandals instead of rain boots! Saturday night is down time, yes we will be staying home to relax eat some popcorn and watch a movie! We had a long week!

Sunday:
Im super stoked to hang out with one of my besties for lunch, baby bump catching up and shopping!  Baby shower shopping that is, we will be heading to the party stores to look for decorations and inspirations.  Did I mention I'm hosting this par-tay?!?  Eeesh cross those fingers again, its my first time hosting a baby shower!!! My mom and aunts always make it look so easy, Im gonna give it my best!

Im also very happy to announce that not only did I finish my preggy besties shower invites, but I also just took on a new freelance client!! Woohoo Mama!!

Have a Happy Weekend everyone!
